本来、実写映像に備わっているインデックス性やコンテクストを断ち切り、断片化した運動同士を再配列することで新たな記憶や運動を創造する「運動のデペイズマン」をコンセプトとした作品。ここで現れる運動は、かつての形態と意味を持ち、同時にそれまでとは異なる非完結的で継起するイメージである。DARK MIXERとは造語であり、DARK には「暗い」「闇の」などから派生して、「わかりにくい」「意味が曖昧な」などの意味がある。抽出され た運動がミキサーのなかで混淆し、闇の中で蠢くイメージである。 本作は、全部で50種類の短いループする運動群を空間化したバージョンと、そのうち20個の運動をシングルチャンネルにまとめたフィルムバージョンがある。

A work based on the concept of “movement dépaysement,” in which the indexicality and original context inherent in live-action footage are cut away, and fragmented movements are rearranged to generate new memories and motions. The movements that emerge here retain traces of their former forms and meanings, while also becoming open-ended images that resist being fixed into a single interpretation. “DARK MIXER” is a coined term. The word “dark” not only suggests darkness itself, but also something obscure, ambiguous, or difficult to grasp. Extracted movements are mixed together like fragments inside a blender, forming images that writhe within obscurity. This work exists in two versions: one as a spatial installation composed of fifty short looping movements, and another as a single-channel version combining twenty of those movements into one sequence.
