ゾートロープは、初期映画における原初的な視覚装置の一つである。内側に連続する静止画を配置した筒を回転させ、スリットを覗くことで、静止画が動いて見える。
その名は、ギリシア語の zoe（生命）と trope（回転）に由来する。ここでの zoe とは、個別の命ではなく、それぞれの存在の根底を流れる普遍的な生命の感覚を指す。
本作では、生命の回転から立ち上がる運動を記憶と結びつけ、《Daughter of Butades》にも登場する走る少女の記憶を描いた。

The zoetrope is one of the primal optical devices of early cinema. By rotating a cylinder with a sequence of still images placed inside it and looking through its slits, the still images appear to move. The name derives from the Greek words zoe (life) and trope (turning). Here, zoe does not refer to an individual life, but to a universal sense of life that flows beneath each existence. In this work, I connect the movement that emerges from this rotation of life with memory, depicting the memory of a running girl who also appears in Daughter of Butades.
